It sucks!

Some random and not so random thoughts.

I finally got my tattoo! My first tattoo was in memory of my aunt, Kathy, who passed away July 2003. This tattoo is one that I’ve been thinking about for a couple of years, since I got my first tattoo actually.
One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Romans 12:2 which states, “Do not be conformed to this world, rather be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The one thing that always reminds me of this verse is a butterfly. So, about a year ago I started looking at pictures of butterflies. I didn’t want the tattoo to be a cartoon looking butterfly, I wanted it to be an actual butterfly, one of God’s creations. In my searchings, I ran across a picture of the butterfly below.
This is the female Diana Fritillary. The females are either blue or purple in color and the males are orange or yellow. I had found my butterfly. Not only was it beautiful but it had the same name as me! Then it was down to waiting. I guess you could say waiting to work up the courage to go and get another tattoo. Not that getting a tattoo was incredibly painful, it hurts but not that badly, but the courage to follow through.
Well, last night was that night. I called up Meagan and Elise, asked what they were doing and if they wanted to go with me to get my tattoo.
So, off we trekked to Red Door in Grand Terrace. A gentleman by the name of David did my tattoo. He listened to Meagan and Elise for 2 hours, he’s got a LOT of patience.
What follows is a short visual representation of my evening. Enjoy!
If you look in the mirror you can see Meagan making funny faces.
She kept making me laugh, it was hard to sit still.
Talking to Elise. I think this was the point she asked me if it hurt.
About half-way through the black shading.
The first layer of blue shading
Another picture of David hard at work, ignoring Megan and Elise completely.
I was intrigued. I could not stop watching him work.
The final product!
I hope you enjoyed!
